Seattle-based hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, known for their electrifying live shows and expertly crafted music, broke new ground by independently releasing their debut full-length album, The Heist. The album shot to number 1 on iTunes and debuted at number 2 on Billboard without the support of a traditional record label. The album's single, "Thrift Shop," spoofs American consumerism and currently holds a spot in the Billboard Top 40. The song's music video is about to break 27,000,000 views on YouTube and is in heavy rotation on BET and MTV2. "Same Love," a song in support of marriage equality, was performed live on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. DeGeneres introduced the pair as "her new heroes."
